This Privacy Policy explains how VerkLabs / “we” collects, uses, and shares personal information when you use VerkLabs, our website, and our 3D scene editor (together, the “Service”). We comply with the UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and (where applicable) the EU GDPR.

2. What we collect
- Account & contact data – name, email, password (hashed), profile information.
- Usage data – app interactions, logs, feature usage, crash reports, device/browser info, IP address (for security & abuse prevention).
- Content – assets and designs you upload or create (e.g., textures, audio, 3D scenes, metadata, titles/captions).
- Support communications – messages you send us (email/chat) and related metadata.
- Cookies & similar tech – essential cookies for login/session; optional analytics cookies if you consent.
3. Why we use your data (legal bases)
- Provide and operate the Service (performance of a contract Art. 6(1)(b)) – account creation, login, storage and rendering of your content.
- Improve and secure the Service (legitimate interests Art. 6(1)(f)) – analytics, debugging, preventing abuse, ensuring availability.
- Communicate with you – service emails, updates, support (contract / legitimate interests).
- Marketing – with your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)); you can withdraw any time.
- Legal compliance (Art. 6(1)(c)) – responding to lawful requests, record-keeping, tax.
4. How we use content you upload
You own your content (see our Terms of Use). To run the Service, you grant us a licence to host, process, and display it. Where our Terms allow, we may also use representations of your content (e.g., screenshots, short clips) for marketing or educational purposes; we will credit you where reasonable and honour any opt-out you send to privacy@verklabs.ai.
5. Cookies & analytics
We use essential cookies for authentication and security. With your consent, we may use analytics to understand feature usage and improve performance. You can manage cookies via your browser settings and (if implemented) our cookie banner/preferences.
6. Sharing your information
We don’t sell your personal data. We share it only with:
- Service providers (processors) – e.g., hosting, storage, analytics, error tracking, email delivery – bound by contracts to protect your data.
- Legal & safety – where required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.
- Business transfers – in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, subject to continued protection of your data.
7. International transfers
If we transfer data outside the UK/EEA, we use appropriate safeguards (e.g., UK/EU Standard Contractual Clauses) to protect your information. You can contact us for details of current safeguards.
8. Retention
We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes above: account data for the life of your account; logs for a limited period for security and diagnostics; support records per legal/accounting needs. You can request deletion of your account and content at any time (subject to legal obligations and backups).

Under the UK/EU GDPR you may have the right to: access; correct; delete; restrict or object to processing; portability; and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK ICO or your local supervisory authority.

10. Security
We use technical and organisational measures appropriate to the risk (encryption in transit, access controls, least privilege). No online service is 100% secure; please use a strong, unique password and keep your credentials safe.

The Service is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data, please contact us and we will act promptly.
12. Third-party links
Our Service may link to third-party sites or services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and change the “Last updated” date. If changes are material, we’ll provide additional notice (e.g., in-app or email).
